Dubai is the flashy party hub, but Abu Dhabi is the cultural soul of the UAE. Located just 1.5 hours away, the capital city offers a completely different vibeāmore serene, artistic, and grand.
Many tourists skip it because they think it’s “too far.” Huge mistake. Seeing the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in person is a life-changing experience.
As Mizanur Rahman Hridoy, I have done this road trip dozens of times. In this guide, I will show you how to see the best of Abu Dhabi in just one day without rushing.
How to Get from Dubai to Abu Dhabi (2026)
You have three main options:
- Public Bus (Cheapest): Take the E100 Bus from Al Ghubaiba Station or E101 from Ibn Battuta Station.
- Cost: 25 AED ($7) one way.
- Time: Approx 2 hours.
- Taxi / Private Car (Most Convenient): A taxi will cost around 250-300 AED ($70-$80) one way.
- Tip: If you are a group of 3-4, a taxi is worth it.
- Organized Tour: Many companies offer “Abu Dhabi City Tour” packages with pickup for around $50-$80 per person.
Stop 1: Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (The Must-Do)
Start your day here (around 10:00 AM). It is the largest mosque in the country and an architectural masterpiece made of white marble and gold.
- Entry Fee: Free.
- Strict Dress Code: This is non-negotiable. Women must cover their hair, arms, and legs completely. Men should wear long trousers. If you are not dressed appropriately, they will deny entry.

Stop 2: Emirates Palace (Lunch of Gold)
Just a 15-minute drive from the mosque is the Emirates Palace, a hotel that makes the Burj Al Arab look modest.
- Activity: You can walk into the lobby for free.
- Must-Try: The famous “24K Gold Cappuccino” at Le CafĆ©. It costs around 85 AED ($23), but hey, you are drinking gold!
Stop 3: Qasr Al Watan (The Presidential Palace)
This is a working palace opened to the public. The interiors are blindingly beautiful with gold, crystal, and mosaic. It is arguably more impressive inside than the mosque.
- Ticket: Approx 60 AED.
Stop 4: Louvre Abu Dhabi (Art & Soul)
Located on Saadiyat Island, this museum is famous for its “Rain of Light” dome roof. It floats on water and is a photographer’s dream. Even if you don’t like museums, go for the architecture.

(Stop 5: Ferrari World (Optional for Thrill Seekers)
If you prefer rollercoasters over art, skip the Louvre and go to Ferrari World on Yas Island. It houses “Formula Rossa,” the fastest rollercoaster on the planet.
